Sugar Free Chocolate Ice Cream

Some friends of ours gave us an ice cream machine for our wedding. And we didn’t take it out of the box for at least a year (what is WRONG with us). The first few times I tried to make ice cream, it didn’t go so well. Wether is was something I was doing wrong or whatever, my ice cream just did not turn out well. And to make things harder was that I needed to make it sugar free.

Then, I found this. Alton Brown’s Chocolate Ice Cream. And it’s perfect in every way. For real. The only tweek I had to make was to use Spenda (or Trivia) instead of sugar. Perfect for R! And I love that you can add whatever toppings you want. This last batch I made had pecans in it. Yum.

This is a perfect summer treat; even if your loved one is diabetic or on Adkins!

Some tips on making ice cream:

  • Make sure your ice cream bowl that you have to put in the freeze is SUPER frozen. 24 hours in the freezer should be all good.
  • Add a little salt to the end product when you are done. For real. It makes the chocolate extra rich. And rich is good!
