Candy Cane Vodka

So, I was hell-bent on making something for friends for Christmas. When you see all of these amazing things on Pinterest, you can’t help but want to be inspired. You can’t help but want to making things. Get your hands dirty. Become a DIY Queen.

Well, I planned on making amaretto because my MIL has an awesome recipe. I looked online EVERYWHERE to find the perfect bottle. I couldnt’ find one that I liked. And I got busy/lazy. So needless to say, I didn’t get around to it.

Well this weekend, I read a recipe for infusing vodka.

Well, hell, I can do that! So that’s what I decided to do.

I started off with a large bottle of pretty good vodka. 1.75 liter. It was on sale and we’ve had it before.

Then we went to Wallyworld (aka Walmart aka the bain of my existence) and found pint mason jars. Really? Nothing smaller? Of course not! So guess what? I had to work with what they had…I’m not happy with this huge jar but there isn’t anything I can do about it.

Then we picked up some soft peppermint sticks (they were only .98 cents!). I washed the jars out, dried them, then I threw a few sticks in each jar and filled up the mason jars halfway (I wasn’t going to fill the entire jar. I’m sorry, but that’s WAY too much vodka. I don’t care HOW much you drink. That’s way too much).

After a few minutes I noticed the vodka start to turn light pink…then red…I put the tops of them and stuck them in the freezer. I shook them up every 3 hours or so and the peppermint seems to be dissolving (I did this yesterday).

I had a friend try it yesterday and it didn’t kill him so I guess it’s pretty good. Really flipping strong but good!

xxoo
